Westfield Health Provides Further Funding to Support “Healthy Families, Healthy Futures”
Sheffield United Community Foundation is pleased to announce additional funding from Westfield Health to continue and expand its successful “Healthy Families, Healthy Futures” initiative. This vital project is designed to promote healthier lifestyles within the local community by engaging families and fans of Sheffield United with a range of health and well-being activities.
The renewed partnership with Westfield Health, a leading workplace health and wellbeing business with a long-standing commitment to promoting healthier communities, will allow the Foundation to build on the achievements of the project to date, including the delivery of physical activity sessions, mental health support, nutrition workshops, and family fitness events. The programme targets individuals and families in the Sheffield area, offering accessible and inclusive opportunities to improve both physical and mental well-being.
Healthy Families, Healthy Futures is supported by the Premier League and Professional Footballers’ Association. Administered through the Premier League Charitable Fund, the funding helps football clubs to tackle inequality and respond to local challenges, supporting people and their communities to be more inclusive.
Strengthening Community Ties
The “Healthy Families, Healthy Futures” project has been integral in fostering stronger links between Sheffield United Football Club and its supporters. By utilising the power of football to inspire and engage, the project encourages participants to adopt healthier habits and build connections with others in the community, as well as being a place of sanctuary for those with long term or terminal illnesses.
Joe Williamson, Chief Operating Officer of Sheffield United Community Foundation, said: “We are incredibly grateful for Westfield Health’s continued support, which enables us to reach even more individuals and families who may otherwise struggle to access health and wellness services. Through this partnership, we aim to make a lasting impact on the physical and mental well-being of our community, while further cementing the relationship between the football club and the people who support it.”
Expanding the Programme
With the new funding, the Sheffield United Community Foundation will be able to expand the reach of the project, introducing additional community events, workshops, and outreach initiatives, as well as providing access to professional advice and resources. The programme will continue to focus on making health and fitness accessible to all, regardless of background or ability.
Dave Capper, Chief Executive Officer of Westfield Health, commented: “Westfield Health is proud to continue supporting the ‘Healthy Families, Healthy Futures’ project and the fantastic work being done by the Sheffield United Community Foundation. This funding will enable us to reach even more families and fans, encouraging them to adopt healthier lifestyles in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment. We believe that health is a shared responsibility, and this partnership perfectly aligns with our commitment to improving the well-being of communities.”
