Thanks to Our Traineeship Partners

As we finish our second cohort of the year, we wanted to say thank you to all our Traineeship Partners who have supported the programme during this time.

We’re proud to announce 90% of our Trainees have progressed into employment, further education or training following their completion of the programme and this wouldn’t have been made possible without the work our partners do.

Connor Murphy, Employability Assistant, said: “Without our partners we wouldn’t be able to deliver this programme to the young people that need these vital skills and work experience. Our partners are always passionate about working with young people and help prepare them for their futures. This shows in the skills the trainees gain and how quickly they progress.”

For our most recent cohort we would like to personally thank:

Handsworth Junior Sporting Club, St Luke’s Hospice and The Suit Works for providing work placements to our trainees and taking time out to nurture and develop them into more employable people.

We caught up with some of our partners about being involved in the Traineeship programme…

Steve Holmes, Vice Chairman of Handsworth Junior Sporting Club, said: “We have been a partner of the traineeship programme for three years now and it’s been so rewarding for both ourselves as a business and for the trainees we’ve taken on. To see the trainees grow in confidence and in their skillset has been fantastic. It’s a brilliant programme and one we fully invest in as we have a full-time member of staff who started out as a trainee with the Foundation.”

Emily Cox, Manager of St Luke’s Hospice Donation Center, said: “Supporting Sheffield’s Hospice in the care of patients and their families is a huge undertaking and takes a large team of people across all areas of our business. We could not do what we do without the support of our amazing volunteers, and if we can help them to achieve their goals in return, then that’s a truly wonderful symbiotic relationship!”

“We have been working in partnership with the Foundation for a while now and have had some great people come through our doors. They have helped us achieve our goals, but also learned a lot about what goes on behind the scenes of charity retail in a warehouse environment. Hopefully volunteering with us has helped them gain valuable skills, knowledge & experience to take forward with them in their future careers. With full support from both St Luke’s and the Foundation’s team, it’s a great opportunity for anyone, and we hope our working relationship continues long into the future!”
