Supporting Schools with Premier League Primary Stars
After being placed into a second national lockdown, our Participation & Inclusion strand remains determined to support Sheffield schools, as children and families are again asked to stay at home and engage in home learning.
The team have continued to deliver face to face sessions in those schools who need support and believe we can add value to the activities which engage vulnerable children and those of key workers who remain able to attend. There is also an online alternative for those schools where face to face delivery is not possible.
In School Delivery
James Morley, Premier League Primary Stars Coordinator, has been working at Nether Green with children of key workers in Year Four and Five. James has been helping the children develop their football skills and has been teaching them about the importance of keeping fit and healthy.
James has also been teaching at Whiteway’s Primary School, working with children of key workers in Year one. James has been developing their fundamental movement skills in PE through fun games and activities.
Mr Hancock, Teacher at Nether Green, couldn’t speak more highly of James and Sheffield United Community Foundation. Mr Hancock said: “It has been fantastic to continue our partnership with Sheffield United Community Foundation despite the challenging circumstances this year.
“The coaches have done a tremendous job in adapting their sessions to meet our risk assessment, yet still provide engaging and active opportunities for our children.

“During lockdown it is essential that children are maintaining a healthy lifestyle, both physically and mentally.” said James. “It has been a great opportunity to be able to provide that for the children of Nether Green.”
Online Delivery
Whilst we have been lucky enough to be able to continue face to face delivery in some schools, for others it hasn’t been possible. To help these schools our coaches have offered alternative online support.
We have three online activities in place for children and families to engage in including ‘Letters in the Community’, ‘Intervention Packs’ and an upcoming ‘Premier League Primary Stars February Half Term Festival’.
