Students Inspired by Premier League Trophy Visit
The Premier League Trophy recently made a memorable visit to local schools and venues in Sheffield, spreading excitement and inspiration among young fans engaged with Sheffield United Community Foundation. The esteemed trophy’s tour included stops at Woodhouse West Primary School and Bradfield School, as well as a special appearance at Handsworth Junior Sporting Club.
At Woodhouse West Primary School, the trophy was welcomed with enthusiasm by students and staff alike. The visit provided a unique opportunity for the children to see the prestigious trophy up close, no doubt sparking dreams and aspirations of one day lifting it themselves! The event included engaging activities, photo opportunities, and a Q&A session where students could learn more about the history of the Premier League.
The next stop off was at Handsworth Junior Sporting Club, where over 60 young people were participating in a Premier League Inspires football tournament. The trophy visit added an extra layer of excitement and motivation for the young participants. The tournament, designed to promote physical activity and teamwork, was a resounding success, with participants demonstrating impressive skills and sportsmanship. The trophy’s visit definitely proved to be inspiring to the students, both on and off the pitch!
The trophy’s final stop was at Bradfield School where teachers and students each got the chance to have their picture taken with the trophy.
Joe Simpson, Employability Manager, said of the day: “It’s been a great celebration of football and education today, you could really see the community spirit with everyone we visited with the trophy. I don’t think the students will forget today for a long time, and we hope the impact of it will inspire them going forward. It just shows the powerful role that football and sports in general can play in inspiring young people.”
