Blades captain Billy Sharp has been awarded the PFA’s Community Champion trophy for his continued support of the local community throughout the 2021/22 season.

Billy has generously given his time to Sheffield United Community Foundation projects including attending a football session for Women’s Mental Health participants and his work during LGBTQ+ History Month with the Rainbow Laces programme.

We asked Billy how it felt to be recognised for his contributions:

“It’s nice. I like to give something back to the community. There are a lot of fans looking up to me, which will end one day, so to give something back is something I am proud of and something I like to do, because of the support I get throughout the season.”

Chris Bailey, Head of Foundation added:

“Billy has been a big contributor to our projects over the years and his commitment to serving the local community doesn’t go unnoticed. We know how difficult it can be for players to find the time to do their bit off the pitch, but time and time again, Billy has been there to support us and our many participants.

We look forward to seeing Billy at some of our sessions next season.”
