#PLPrimaryStars deliver letters to NHS Staff & Care Homes

During lockdown in January, schools that are part of our #PLPrimaryStars programme took part in the Premier League’s #WeAreOneTeam initiative in which participants were tasked to write letters for NHS staff, thanking them for all of their hard work, and Care Home residents to try and lift their spirits.
James Morley, PL Primary Stars Coordinator, said: “We were really excited to get involved with this project and show support for the NHS in any way that we could.
I have received fantastic feedback from both the NHS hospital staff and schools that took part. It was great to see the community help each other during an extremely difficult period.”
Letters were also sent to Care Home residents to try and lift their spirits. Mr Hancock, Teacher at Nether Green Junior School, said: “Our Key Worker children in Year 4 and 5 got involved with the #WeAreOneTeam initiative by writing letters to the residents in care homes.
“It has been an incredibly difficult time for this community, so we wanted to hopefully bring a smile to their faces and show them that we are thinking of them.”
“The children also completed an activity to go alongside their letter for the residents to complete!”
“We had word searches, quizzes, scavenger hunts and a bucket list for when we have returned to normal. We hope the residents enjoy our letters and activities!”
We currently have over 30 schools in Sheffield signed up to our #PLPrimary Stars programme. For more information, or to sign up your school, please contact james.morley@sufc-community.co.uk.
