NCS School Employability Sessions

Over the last few weeks, the NCS team have been working with local secondary schools to deliver support session for year 11 students around Sheffield. Sessions have been delivered around employability and future proofing yourself. The students have been fully engaged in activities that they wouldn’t usually take part in during their normal lessons. The thought-provoking session aimed to get the students really thinking about their future and doing something that they are passionate about and they actually want to do, not only this, but how they are going to get there.
The sessions have been really success and feedback form both students and staff has been really positive. It’s been so successful in fact, that the team are currently in the process of arranging more of these sessions, covering different topics, over the next month.
Gareth Bear, NCS session leader said: “It’s been great being able to run these sessions and offer a bit of support to the schools, especially at this time.
“The young people seemed to really enjoy the sessions and it was clear that it got them thinking about their futures. It felt good to be able to have a positive impact on these young people and give them something to think about beyond the current situation.”
Equally complimentary of the employability sessions, the Head of Year 11 at Handsworth Grange said: “The NCS team delivered some brilliant and engaging sessions with my Year 11 students regarding employability skills.
“The students seemed very engaged by the enthusiastic and knowledgeable team. The students who missed out on the first session were keen to have them back to do the sessions with them after hearing great things from their peers.
“The team we’re really organised, friendly and I would have them back again anytime!”
