Matty’s Story

Matty Lee has been a regular participant on our football camps at Crookes for over the past 10 years. Now, aged 14, Matty has attended his last summer football camp and is now looking forward to continuing his journey with the Community Foundation, in a voluntary role, returning to coach some of the younger participants that we have on future camps.
Rob Jenkinson, Sheffield United Community Foundation school sport coordinator, says ‘Matty has grown as a person over the last 10 years at our camps.
‘The guidance that myself and the other coaches have been able to provide to him has really helped him through school and helped him with his football away from the camps.
‘We’re hoping now that he can continue his journey with us as he returns to help coach on future camps.’
Sheffield United Community Foundation run football camps at various facilities across the city every school holiday from 9.00am until 3.00pm for boys and girls aged 5-14 years. The camps aim to blend fun activities with structured coaching and games. Children are able to improve their techniques through a variety of activities, learn new moves and skills and most importantly, have lots of fun.
It is also a chance for children to make new friends in a safe and friendly environment. Throughout our camps we pride ourselves on promoting respect, politeness, encouragement, fair play and teamwork.
