Football & Education Academy teams up with digital mental healthcare provider Kooth

Sheffield United Community Foundation’s Football & Education Academy has teamed up with digital mental healthcare provider, Kooth.
Kooth offers free online support for young people that need it. The platform provides a service where young people can access counselling support anonymously from 12pm-10pm weekdays and 6pm-10pm weekends every day of the year. Kooth users will also have access to self-help articles and online tools such as mood and goal-setting trackers and moderated peer-to-peer forums.
1 in 5 children and young people suffer from mental health illness in any given year. We have teamed up with Kooth to ensure that all of our students have access to high quality mental healthcare.
Sheffield United Community Foundation’s Safeguarding & EDI Manager, Vicki Wilson, said: “We are really excited to be working with Kooth.
“To be able to refer our young people to a service where they can find immediate support and access to qualified counsellors – no waiting lists!”
“It is so important that young people learn and develop the skills to effectively manage their emotional health, and that we normalise these conversations and seeking help when its needed.”
“The presentation by Kooth was very understanding of young people’s problems.” said Football & Education Academy student, Amber.
“Now I know about it, I know that if I had any problems that I could use it.”
“I am delighted to be launching Kooth within the Sheffield United Community Foundation.” said Richard Chisem, Integration & Participation Worker at Kooth.
“The need for personalised mental health support has never been greater and to integrate Kooth into the fabric of the Foundation has been an exciting project to lead on.
“I hope to develop the service we offer, not only to the young people who form part of the fabric of the Club, but to all young people throughout the city.”
Kooth.com is commissioned by the NHS, Local Authorities, charities and businesses to provide anonymous and personalised mental health support for children and young people.
