Jon Scoops Inspirational Mentor Award

Education Tutor, Jon Hymanforth, recently won the Inspirational Mentor Award from Sheffield Hallam University for Post 16 PGCE’s.

Our partnership with Sheffield Hallam University has seen fantastic outcomes in recent years with Jon being our latest award winner. By working closely with Sheffield Hallam University on the PGCE programme we have developed a workforce where we now have members of staff who have come full circle after being a student with the Foundation, leaving to study at SHU and then returning to us as full-time staff. This highlights how important the mentor role is to the Foundations’ development of an internal workforce. We’re extremely proud of Jon’s achievements.

Gavin Downs, Jon’s PGCE mentee, nominated Jon for the prestigious award. “I have worked with and been mentored by Jon on a weekly basis throughout the academic year and can’t praise him highly enough for the level of support he has offered throughout this time. As well as spontaneously offering advice and guidance on a weekly basis, Jon also made himself available outside of working hours to support or answer any question I needed to ask which was extremely beneficial.”
