Foundation & DWP Scoop Collaboration Excellence Award
Sheffield United Community Foundation were thrilled to be the recipient of the Collaboration Excellence Award at the 2024 Sheffield Business Awards!
This award celebrates the Foundation’s successful partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), which has brought employment support to young people in Sheffield through the Blades Youth Hub.
The collaboration between the Foundation and DWP represents a response to some of the biggest challenges faced by young people today, including employability skills, confidence development, and mental health. The Blades Youth Hub provides a space for young people aged 18-24 who are seeking support to re-enter employment, education or training. By offering tailored workshops, employer interactions, and job-seeking assistance, the hub creates opportunities for its customers to build their confidence, develop their skills, and bring them closer to the labour market. With over 140 young people moving into employment, education or training in our first year of delivery, it really demonstrates the impact the project has made.
Joe Simpson, Employability Manager at Sheffield United Community Foundation said: “We are incredibly proud of this achievement, which highlights the importance of upskilling Sheffield’s young people, our future workforce. Our collaboration with the DWP has been instrumental in ensuring that the Blades Youth Hub is a place where young people can seek out employment support to give them the best chance to succeed. Going into our second year of delivery, we are looking forward to continuing this fantastic collaboration and further supporting the young people of Sheffield.”
