Empowering Women & Girls Project

As part of International Women’s Day on 8th March 2020, our Participation & Inclusion strand wanted to raise awareness of our new Empower Women & Girls programme.

Shannon Wells, our newly appointed Women & Girls Inclusion Coordinator, is leading on the project and has recently been using Zoom to connect with our participants.

Shannon said: “Through Zoom we have been able to connect with Women and Girls in the comfort of their own homes.

“We have been able to get to know them (and their pets) better!

“We have discussed lots of ways to engage with more women and we will be able to organise more regular when lock down ends.”

Since lockdown started, Shannon has been running a ladies’ ‘Legs, Bums and Tums’ session. These sessions have been really popular with participants and regularly attended.

Activity Packs have also been delivered to our Premier League Kicks Girls. These packs help the girls stay active and practice their football skills from home.

Following the Governments update on the roadmap out of lockdown, we are excited and keen to get some sessions out to our community. Look out in the near future for a variety of different sports and physical activities for all ages on our social media platforms.
