Calling all Sheffield businesses: Help our Trainees and receive £1,000 from the government

Be one of our placement partners and receive £1000 for each placement you provide.
Sheffield United Community Foundation are committed to educating and making a positive impact on our young people of Sheffield. Due to the ongoing pandemic many 16-24-year olds have been impacted by unemployment.
Through our Traineeship Programme we allow young people access to over 100 hours of work experience over 12 weeks in the industry of their choice. Through the new ‘Plan for Jobs’ scheme from the government, employers can now receive £1000 per trainee they take on for work experience.
We are now looking to grow and expand our Traineeship Programme here at the foundation. We are calling for businesses of any industry to offer work placements to our fantastic trainees.
Steve Holmes (Handsworth Junior Sporting Club Vice Chairman), one of our placement partners said: “We have recently had 3 Trainees completing a Groundsman Traineeship down at the club. They have been fantastic as soon as they walked through the gates and we have been delighted to play a part in their development and readiness for work. We have seen them grow in confidence week in week out, and it’s been a pleasure to have them round the club and we will definitely be looking to keep them around.”
Joe Simpson (Traineeship Officer) said: ” Often young people can get pushed aside when it comes to finding work experience, Steve and the team down at Handsworth are reaping the rewards for taking the lads on and I can’t thank him enough for what he’s done for them. The more businesses we can have partnerships with, the more young people we can help find routes back into employment education or training, which is key for the local community.”
