Amber’s Traineeship Success
Over the past year Amber has progressed through Sheffield United Community Foundation’s Community Coaching Traineeship onto the Football & Education Academy’s Women’s BTEC Level 3 in Sport.
Amber started her journey on our Community Coaching Traineeship programme back in February. On our Traineeship Amber was taught how to coach and gained work experience in coaching but the programme unfortunately ended early due to COVID-19.
After getting a taste of what it would be like to work as a sports coach, Amber decided to join our Football & Education Academy and secured a place on our Women’s BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport as part of our Women’s Football and Education Pathway.
Since enrolling with us in September, Amber has worked exceptionally hard and has enjoyed every minute.
On being a part of our Women’s Football & Education Academy, Amber said: “Starting off on the Traineeship Programme was exactly what I needed to give me a confidence boost.
“It helped me gain confidence to coach and play sport again!
“It helped me realise my potential and that there is a lot of different job roles within sport that I want to explore.
“Moving into the BTEC programme a few months after was a big step for me but with the help of all the teachers here I feel supported.
“Both programmes have allowed me to communicate so much more effectively and I am grateful for what the foundation has done for me. I would absolutely recommend both courses!”
Joe Simpson, Traineeship Officer at the [Sheffield United Community] Foundation couldn’t be more pleased with Amber’s progress. Joe said: “Amber is a credit to herself, she worked extremely hard on the Traineeship Programme and it was a huge shame we had it cut it short.
“Amber’s potential was clear to see and we spoke in length about her progressing on to the Level 3 programme. Amber is now well on her way to having a successful career in the industry.”
