Education awards

Congratulations to Sheffield United Community Foundation students Joe Haley and Lauren Bailey, and futures student Ben Burrell, for winning our player of the month award for September.
This has been awarded in recognition of their consistent hard work on and off the pitch.
Joe and Ben were presented with their award by midfielder John Lundstram and Lauren was presented her award by women’s captain Sophie Barker.
John said: “You can have all the talent in the world, but if you haven’t got that attitude and work rate it doesn’t count for anything.
“Hard work applies not just to professional football, but every aspect of life.”
A student will be selected at the start of each month, from each of our programmes, for the student of the month award. This is part of the education department’s focus on positive behaviour. The winning criteria is based on students’ efforts during the week, in both the classroom and on the pitch, and focuses on the key principles of respect, punctuality, attendance, work rate, positive attitude and meeting academic deadlines.
Education manager, Joe Williamson said: “It’s been great to have both women’s and men’s first team players recognising the achievements by presenting the awards. The three students have been outstanding during September and are thriving in the positive learning environment we have created at Sheffield United Community Foundation.”
